Kushite Queen Amunardis I - Alabaster Statue Hieroglyphs - Translation and Harwa's Tomb Hieroglyphs, Grand Steward to Amunardis I - Hatnefrumut

Queen Amenirdis I - Alabaster Statue This alabaster statue of Queen Amenirdis I inspired Verdi to compose Aida.

The
hieroglyphs from the base (pictured below) and the reverse of the statue have been translated.

There is a very interesting fact here - the Tomb of Harwa, 'Grand Steward' (or 'Chief Steward') to Amenirdis I, TT37, shows the same hieroglyphs on the southern wall of the passage leading to the First Pillared Hall. No coincidence, but extremely important given the semi-royal status of Harwa and the Divine Adoratrice and God's Wife of Amun, Amenirdis I.

The matching hieroglyphs from both sources say:

"I gave food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, clothes to the naked man."

Queen Amunirdis I - Alabaster Statue Base - Hieroglyphic Text

The hieroglyphic text from Amenirdis I's famous alabaster statue is below:

"This is an offering for the Theban Amen-Ra, of Apet, to the God Montu-Ra, the Lord of Thebes.
May He grant everything that is good and pure, by which the divine (nature) lives, all that the Heaven bestows and the earth brings forth, to the Princess, the most pleasant, the most gracious, the kindest and most amiable Queen of Upper and Lower Egypt, the sister of the King (Shabaka), the ever living, the daughter of the deceased king (Kashta), the Wife of the Divine One - Amenirdis. May she live!"

"I was the wife of the Divine One, a benefactress to her city (Thebes), a bounteous giver for Her land. I gave food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, clothes to the naked."
